Being born and raised in Singapore, I do have a sense of patriotism and a certain defensive aura if anyone doubts the credibility of my favourite chicken rice stall. When my american or european friends ask if Singapore is worth travelling to, I easily rat off tons of things to do despite our size, and when their trips were over, they were eagerly planning their next trip back. Over the years, we've also seen how our young nation has grown to be an internationally recognised, prosperous and safe city. However, we must remember not to take it for granted. We have to nurture our youths and encourage them to keep our tradition alive.
Taking a photo at a train station may seem ordinary in Singapore, but in some countries you wouldn't even take out your camera for fear for it being stolen! In another country, my friend was approached by a random man and was sold fake train tickets.
Since 2007, Nexus has successfully organised the N.E.mation! digital animation competition for youths to express their thoughts on Total Defence. With training and guidance, students with no prior experience in animation have been able to produce clips of broadcast quality to screen on free-to-air television. Some of these clips were even selected for international animation festivals and won several awards!
Plus, the winners of the N.E.mation! competition win an all expenses paid trip to US to visit a renowned animation studio worth more than $15,000!! Runner ups also win up to $4,000 worth of attractive prizes!

This year, the animation clips produced by the top 10 finalist teams will be judged by a panel comprising industry professionals such as Melvin Tan (Senior Animator, Blue Sky Studios).
In addition, the public can vote for their three favourite clips come January 2014 at www.nemation.sg, Facebook or via SMS.

Last season champion’s trip to the USA visiting some renowned animation studios and famous attractions :) I haven't been to the US yet but going to Pixar studios has to be amazing!

How to take part?
Follow these three simple steps!
Step 1: Find groupies
We have enough people to form two groups if we want haha, too bad we're over the age limit
That's right, find 3 to 4 students from your school to form your team! Be sure to pick responsible teammates who will do their work, keep in mind that your best friend on a personal level could be a different person in a work environment.
Step 2: Make it official
Now that you've got your power team, register online at N.E.mation!
If it's near the deadline but you don't have your teammates info, don't worry because only the team leader's particulars are required for the initial registration. Afterwards, teams can log in and check back to update their members profile.
Step 3: Submit your story
