Philips Zoom Teeth Whitening review
As I'm getting older in ages and getting more irritated with caffeine stains on my teeth, I decided to do Philips Zoom Teeth whitening while I was on holidays in Bangkok. Philips Zoom is basically the best product in the market now for teeth whitening. It's also much much cheaper to do it in Bangkok than Singapore.
Teeth cleaning (scaling) + polishing (Airflow which is better technology) + Philips Zoom Teeth whitening is just under SGD 400 while Singapore prices would definitely be over SGD 1000.
Here's the process:
-----
First, your dentist will cover your lips and gums to protect them from the whitening gel. Once your mouth is ready, the gel will be applied to your teeth and activated with our WhiteSpeed blue LED lamp. The whitening gel contains hydrogen peroxide, which oxidizes under the LED light and lifts tooth stains.
The process takes about 45 minutes, but is broken up in three 15-minute sessions. After each session, more whitening gel will be added to your teeth before the LED light is turned back on. During the sessions, you may feel free to relax or listen to music to pass the time. After you have completed the third session, a special fluoride gel is applied to your teeth to reduce sensitivity.
During the teeth whitening procedure, you may experience what we call “zingers.” Zingers are brief flashes of pain that happen when the nerves in your teeth react to the whitening process. This pain can continue even after you leave the office, which is why we always give our patients pain relievers to take afterwards.
If you experience pain during Zoom whitening, please do not hesitate the staff. You have the power to stop the procedure at any time if you feel the pain is too much. Different people have different pain tolerances, which is why this treatment is typically not recommended for patients with sensitive teeth.
--------
Now let me tell you my experience was exactly the same, except I feel like the staff and the internet downplays this "zingers" sensation. Let me tell you honestly how it feels - It's a nerve shock level of pain. Meaning, very painful. It's very common according to the dentist I saw and you're supposed to just endure it! Ohmygosh. Before I started the procedure, I asked what effects it might cause, and all she said was, your teeth may get sensitive.
Dude.
If you Google Philips Zoom, alot of websites just sat you may experience sensitively. Some even say no to mild sensitivity.
COMPLETE LIE. At the 28th minute of the 45 minute session, it was so pain on my lower teeth that I stopped the whole thing. It is now still throbbing pain and even my upper teeth have started hurting.
Is it worth it ? Absolutely no. Am I doing it again? Nope. I will go back to using beauty apps to whiten my teeth Vs this torture.
Be warned if you continue with it!
