Headed to St Marco's square where there are so many pigeons (and they freak me out).
The main church!
Thought this was quite cool, was at the top of a building.
This is the Bridge of Sigh. HOW DISAPPOINTING! Because of the restoration works we couldn't go up. Sigh.
What is the story behind this? One side links to the execution chambers, the other is the entrance. There is only one way into the execution chambers, and no way out. So the guards let the prisoner look out of that small window one last time and the prisoners would sigh. (Their last look at the world) Before they were executed. So that's the story!
Saw many street artists and they paint so well!
Thought these were gorgeous. On my next visit I'd be sure to buy a few to frame at home!
Guys, does this white tower look slanted? Like it's leaning? I saw this and had to take a picture of it lest it becomes the second leaning tower.
Have no idea what this is!
Snuck a pic inside a church and this photo above was dinner! Was so hungry so I just gulped it down. Hahaha.
That's all for Venice! Next post on Murano, an island NEAR Venice :)
As I mentioned we spent 3 days here so here are more pictures :)
The next day we decided to head towards St Marco's square (of course right) And Venice is known for their masks and all. Some of them are a little freaky but they are all handmade and individually designed!
AND LOOK HOW CHEAP ALCOHOL/BEER IS!
About 1.30 euro a bottle of stella.
Bailey's for 10 euro. Which is 17 sing. Here they sell it for fifty bucks.
You know a place is commercialized if there's a MacDonald's.
Of course after hearing all the reviews...
Clock tower.
If you see this bridge you are on the right track haha.
We chose THIS gondola.
100 euro for 3 people. Lasts about 40 mins? Or was it 30? Can't remember but the time really flew by.
I know it's expensive but this is the market rate for 3 people. If you want you can get more people to sit together and it'll be slightly cheaper per person! Plus it's an experience.
Our gondola man! Who spoke english of course.
I would advise everyone to get a friendly one who talks to you and tells you about the places that you visit.
Rowing!
The next time I visit I'm going with my future husband so we will go on the night gondola. But at night you won't be able to see these beautiful reflections on the underside of the bridges.
He has to bend down each time! So i guess the money's worth it because his back would hurt? Haha and he will need to go for a massage.
The view from below.
Remember this bridge earlier?
Looks wayyyyy better from a gondola ;)
So the gondola man let me move from the back to the front any time during the ride and apparently when you go UNDER the bridge you must make a WISH!
Can't really remember what I wished for but I did! :)
You can snap some nice pictures too. The public transport boat (they don't have buses in Venice haha) does not pass by here so I suppose that's how gondola men make money.
Venezia ! Also the same name of my favourite brand of ice cream. Heehee. Venice.
We spent 4 days and 3 nights here, 3 days exploring venice and 1 day to murano!
This picture cheered me up a little. Funny right?
One of the first churches you will see when you come out from the train station at venice.
You'd think Venice is perfect because of the way it's been portrayed to you since young, but the water is actually kinda stinky and is not very clean.
Most of the locals don't stay here anymore because Venice is not very popular. They travel to Venice Maestre and the surrounding areas for business instead.
There are canals everywhere!! And be prepared to walk. ALOT. So don't wear your heels you will die. And you will definitely get lost because you can't find road names on the buildings and well, it's a very confusing place.
I went in the summer so it's hot and sunny in the day but a little windy at night so a light cardigan will do!
The gondola's of today are really decorated very nicely! :)
I took this picture, not only to capture the crazy graffiti, but also to show the relaxed pace of life here! So many people were walking their dogs and just taking it easy :)
There's actually the name of the street on this building! Which was rare. Haha.
If you walk to the TIP of Venice, on the bottom of the map, the very tip before it starts to curve back into the main town, you will see this.
I hate frogs but he has a nice ass.
The view from the tip!
Gondola's are actually very long!
This statue cracked me up. What on earth is it doing here?!
I really like this shot :)
Stumbled upon this building in Venice (while we were lost) and it's design is so unique! Have never seen a building like it.
This boy is super adorable, he was walking around with a net looking into the longkang (canal) haha and swiftly scooped and a crab was in his net!
This is actually 8pm ish?
Ate here for dinner. A place nearer to the station.
After Cinque Terre I felt like I wanted to try all the seafood pasta's in the world. Haha. But this is not as fresh as the Cinque Terre one I had. BUT IT WAS STILL GOOD :D My 2 other companions ordered the set meal which wasn't as nice as mine so I was very happy that I made the right choice!
